Baligham: A look beyond women's day celebrations in Baligham village
The maiden edition of International Women's day saw a rainbow of fanfare, mariment as women converged to commemorate the 41 st edition . It is phenomenal to hear women advocate for equity to be able to triumph in all spheres of life.
Their clamour for equity doesn’t mean taking the position men in the society and family but an appeal for academic,professional and career equity. Says Madam Dingha Judith Galabe, the General President General of Baligham women Development and Cultural organisation.
The King of Baligham who doubles as the mayor of Santa council,Samkie Elvis Gahnyam II expressed gratitude to the women for their remarkable organisation of the day in the village.
The successful Organisation of the day in the village aligns his vision of oneness ,speaking with one voice to promote peace and unity in the village.
He exhorted men to corroborate theirs spauces in their accademic and professional carreers to allow for robust human resource base for Baligham village.
Fon Samaki Elvis Gayam II exhorted Northwest administration to pave the way for other villages where there is peace to henceforth organise the International women's day in their various Fondoms to boost the moral of local women and reinforce unity while also encouraging the internally displaced to come back home. Too much fear of insecurity breeds insecurity. He noted.
Moving forward, the rethoric is how comes Baligham village in the Northwest region could successfully organise such an important or landmark event without the heavy presence of the security officials to accertain the security of the population.
If you want peace, be prepared for war ,not war against your subjects, but war against the enemies of peace, unity, and development.

We are fortunate to have had courageous king HRM Samkie Elvis Gahnyam II as our traditional Ruler at a time Northwest was burning. We all joined forces with him ,mobilized the population to flush out those enemies of peace and unity from our village. He intimated.
Dr.Nwana Bernard Balikumbat elite who was invited by the king of Baligham, attested that the grandeur of the event was beyond his imagination, the turnout of women their activities which were purely indigenous gave a unique colour to the event.He expressed satisfaction.
Moved by the enthusiasm of the women, Dr. Nwana Bernard he promised to continually extend a hand of fellowship to the women of the said village to encourage them stay in unison for good the village.

This reporter was shocked to realise that there was no iota of state uniform men in that village for security. The rhetoric is ," are some uniform officers victors of insecurity in most parts of the region "?. Most elite attested that they have been in the village for over three weeks. The love of the king,guarantor of the serenity and development of the village, was epitomised during the occasion by the symbolic gifts to the Palace. The king HRM Samkie Elvis Gahnyam II, in his response, lauded the women for their remarkable organisation of the day, and the enthusiasm exhibited with the creation of the centre in the village. He promised to continually support them in festivities geared towards peace,unity, and promotion of their cultural heritage.
He seized the opportunity to urge the government to allow the traditional authorities to organised the international day of the women in the Fondoms where there is peace. This would, in effect, galvanise more tranquillity in the region and the fight against
