Bechati village gets new Fon
Nkemtaji Elias Kedju 32 has been enthroned as the new Fon of Bechati village in Wabane Sub Division of Lebialem Division in the Southwest Region.
The ceremony was well-attended, with over 5,000 people, including administrative and traditional authorities notable the fon of Bangang village , Fon of Nkong, Fon of Besali, Fon of Egumbo, fon of Bamumbu and representatives of Fon of Fumbe and Angong. Their presence at the ceremony was testament of their recognition and acceptance of the new Fon.
Fon Nkemtaji Elias Kedju, from every indication,will change the narrative of Bachati as he promised to be impartial and accommodative in his traditional administration. He says his goal is to unite the village on key issues like security,development and living together.
He pledged his commitment to being available and accessible on issues related to Peace,Security, and Development
of his village,promising to prioritize the well-being and progress of the village without regards to political and religious differences.
While appealing to all and sundry to collaborate with him in his traditional administration given that he is not omniscience and omnipotent, he promised to be the father of all The . Villagers were visibly optimistic that the enthronement of new fon would marks the beginning of a new era for Bechati village.
To attain this goal, he is expected to tour the nation to mobilize the elite and rally support.This shows his commitment to engaging with the community, both locally and internationally, to drive progress of the village.
The approach according to the elite, would foster a sense of unity and shared purpose among them.
As a traditional leader, his availability and engagement would significantly impact the village's stability, growth, and prosperity.
The event highlights the importance of tradition and community attatchment to their cultural heritage.
Fon Nkemtaji elias Kedju it should be recalled was coroneted on the 11 of March and officially presented to the public on Friday May 30 in a ground breaking ceremony.
The main occupation of the population of Bachati village is farming and kingship hereditary like in most parts of the Northwest Region. The accession was graced by traditional dances and diverse cultural festivities.
