Empounded vehicles The Bamenda I first Assistant Divisional Officer, Nchofon Mingoh, has launched an operation to curb reckless driving and restore order on city roads. The crackdown targets young road users known as “scamers,” whose dangerous driving has caused a surge in accidents. Authorities say many operate without verifiable income sources and routinely flout traffic norms. The trend has led to multiple injuries and deaths, including civilians and some state officials. Major routes in Bamenda I Subdivision are now under close surveillance. Residents have welcomed the intervention, citing growing fear for pedestrian safety. The first assistant DO says enforcement will continue until road users comply with road safety regulations. On Wednesday night April 21, 2026 in Wat village Nkambe center subdivision in Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region, a man in his 70s is alleged to have stabbed Nkeh, his junior stepsister to death in a dispute over properties their late father left. He is said to have secretly broke into her sister's house the night breaking Thursday and carried out the heinous act. Because he has been giving death threats to the sister, the family and villagers saw him as the prime suspect. He was held spellbound and he confessed to have been behind the macabre act, revealing that the knife he used in killing the sister was thrown into a pit toilet in their compound. The demise of the temporal bridge mounted by BUNS to ease movement of pedestrian as they work on the mile 2 giant bridge has been blamed on Security challenges and Negligence. "There couldn't have been any death,if people listened to me". says one Pa Ngwa Athanatius who witnessed the carnage.
