NW ARMY RESCUE CHIEF RECIEVES MEDIA AWARD FOR DELIGENCE

Senior Warrant Officer Taku Paul Buifor, Chief of the Army Rescue for Bamenda, has been honoured by the media for his selfless service to the people of the North West Region. Despite ongoing security challenges linked to the Anglophone crisis, Paul has braved all odds for years, responding calls for interventions in natural disasters 24 on 7. In cases of fire, floods, and other disasters, his team is always among the first on the scene. His commitment became so clear that even separatist fighters, who were initially indifferent to his work, eventually acknowledged it — a testament to the value of his service to Bamenda’s population. Taku Paul expressed joy upon receiving a media merit award from World Echoes Newspaper. He said it has not been easy working in Bamenda given the numerous security challenges, but expressed satisfaction with the recognition, which he described as a testament to his assiduity and commitment. The crackdown targets young road users known as “scamers,” whose dangerous driving has caused a surge in accidents. Authorities say many operate without verifiable income sources and routinely flout traffic norms. The trend has led to multiple injuries and deaths, including civilians and some state officials. Major routes in Bamenda I Subdivision are now under close surveillance. Residents have welcomed the intervention, citing growing fear for pedestrian safety. On Wednesday night April 21, 2026 in Wat village Nkambe center subdivision in Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region, a man in his 70s is alleged to have stabbed Nkeh, his junior stepsister to death in a dispute over properties their late father left. He is said to have secretly broke into her sister's house the night breaking Thursday and carried out the heinous act. Because he has been giving death threats to the sister, the family and villagers saw him as the prime suspect.
