What you don't know about Valentine’s Day



Many people think Valentine’s Day is about romance, flowers, gifts, and fleeting emotions. Yet behind the noise of modern culture lies a forgotten Christian story, rooted in sacrifice, truth, and courageous love.

Valentine was a martyr, not a symbol of pleasure
St Valentine was a Catholic priest in the third century who lived under Emperor Claudius II. At a time when marriage was forbidden for young men because the emperor believed single soldiers fought better, Valentine secretly married Christian couples. He chose fidelity over fear and truth over comfort.

Love, in the Christian sense, is sacrifice
Valentine’s love was not emotional excitement. It was agape love. A love that gives, suffers, and remains faithful even unto death. For defending Christian marriage and the dignity of love, he was imprisoned and eventually executed.

Valentine’s Day was never about lust
The Church honored St Valentine as a witness to holy love. Love that is patient. Love that is pure. Love that commits. Love that mirrors Christ on the Cross, not passion without responsibility.

The modern world changed the message
What was once a feast honouring sacrificial love has been reduced to temporary pleasure and commercial gain. The world celebrates desire. The saint preached devotion. The contrast is striking.

True love always points to God
Authentic love leads us closer to holiness, not further from it. It protects life, honours marriage, respects the body, and remains faithful even when it costs everything.

This Valentine’s Day, ask yourself not who loves you emotionally but who is willing to love you truthfully, sacrificially, and faithfully.

That is the love St. Valentine died for.
That is the love Christ revealed on the Cross.

NW MINHD Delegate warns contractors against poor execution of Contracts

The newly appointed Regional Delegate for Housing and Urband Development, John Paul Njosi  warns Contractors  executing  MINHDU projects in the region   against lopsided work.  Reacting complains raised by some stakeholders during a coordination ,he urged  the Divisional  Delegates and  Regional service heads to take responsibility and total  control over MINHDU projects in the region ensure  quality  work and respect of time line  execution of MINHDU projects in the region . He assured them of his unwavering support for quest of quality work and services to the state.  In very strong terms, he cautioned contractors against poorly executed contracts.  They  will  not be recieved and the  culprits  would  be sanctioned.  He said.
