The community of Kung, in Menchum Division, Fungom Subdivision, is plagued by traditional leadership crisis, following the dethronement of incumbent Fon_Kum_Gilbert given his long stay abroad. He is said to have been replaced by
Fon Tem ll.
Report from the said community hold that their customary law and tradition requires a reigning fon to be physically present on the throne of the fondom to perform essential cultural, spiritual, and rituals rites. This is said to have beent main bone of contention that led to the replacement of the incumbent.
To appeace their ancestors who according to a source ,the villagers were obliged to dethrone Fon Kum Gilbert who is said to have been in UK for more than 20 years without coming home to perform the required traditional rites .
The villagers in effect, considered his long absence as abominable and warrant his replacement.

Some community members hinted that multiple efforts have been made to reach him( Fon Kum Gilbert), including messages, formal invitations, and requests for his return to address pressing traditional matters in vain.
Some of the issues reportedly plaguing the village includes land cleansing rites, farmer/ grazzers crisis, resulting in lost of lives,customary rituals, and ancestral obligations, which could not be carried out in his absence .

His long absence has reportedly created prolonged tension, stalled traditional processes, and growing dissatisfaction within the community.
Given his long absence, the villagers decided to dethronement him to ,entrust the village into the hands of a new fon, name Fon Tem ll.
The replacement of Fon Gilbert according to a source has since developed into a broader customary and leadership dispute, drawing attention from community members, traditional authorities, and others concerned with tradition, governance, and social stability in the Kung village.
