Balikumbat Fon honoured with furniture worth over FCFA 4 million
The Fon of Balikumbat village in Ngoketunjia Division, is one of the most respected Fons of Northwest Region.
Fon Doh Gah Nyamyin III is visibly an astute traditional leader renowned for his administrative ingenuity .This has once again made Balikumbat village great again. The village is not only enviable but most dreaded in the neighbourhood and the region as a whole.
The economic administrative magnanimity and political invincibility of the said village,no doubt accounts for her fame.
There is no doubt why his administration both at the council and the village has been lauded by Ngoketunjia administration. He tops chat in council management and administration in Ngoketunjia Division.
The Senior Division Officer for Ngoketunjia, Kweton Anderson, once made the declaration in a council session.
He rated Balikumbat Council as best managed council in Ngoketunjia. He attested that the Fon is the most productive and organised mayor in the Division. This is reflected in his traditional administration.
In appreciation for his good works to the community,his subjects Saturday January 31 during their presentation new year wishes to the Fon ,pledged to corroborate and accompany him in his vision for social cohesion territorial integrity and development of their village.
In a show of solidarity, and loyalty to their venerated traditional Ruler, the dynamics population of the village
presentated a sets of Royal chairs amongst other furnitures estimated at over FCFA 4 million.
Speaking with one voice, the elite pleged to continually stand by their fon and Support him in all his development programmes.
In a colourful display of love, respect and allegiance to their Fon, the citizens assured him of their unwavering collaboration.
In a key note addressed presented by Rev Emmanuel Ngu,on behalf of Balikumbat Development and Cultural organisations BADDO, hailed the Fon for his administrative magnanimity, responsible for the peace, unity of the village.
Rev. Father Emmanuel Ngu of Njidom parish in his Homily affirmed that Fon Doh Gah Nyamyin III is a respected guardian of their village.
"We take this moment to thank Your Royal Highness for your fatherly leadership". He urged the population to ceaselessly take responsibility of the development of the palace,
as “ a palace is not swept by one broom. He added that "great things happen when people focus on work, not personal credit.”
Rev Emmanuel remarked that the celebration was a result of many hearts and hands working together for the good of village.
"The credit is ours, not that of the organizers only. They led and we all followed". He said.
Drawing inspirations from the Book of Sirach, Rev Emmanuel Ngu said "when leadership is upright, the land is at peace, but when pride or arrogance enters leadership, the community suffers as authority is not given for self-glory, but for service to mankind.

This applies to all who hold positions of responsibility in their village traditional , development committees, family heads, youth leaders, and parents as well.He further reminded the people that respect and constructive dialogue are necessary for the growth of the village.
He remarked that the village grows when leaders lead well while the people support them rightly.
Underscoring the dutties of the Fon as a good shepherd who stays awake while others sleep, who walks ahead into danger and who never abandons the flock, he appealed to God to continue to shepherd Balikumbat , protect them from division, injustice and unnecessary conflict or destructive criticisms", .
In a rethiric drawned from the book of Psalms, Rev. Emmanuel questioned if Doh Gah Nyamyin III who is the visible sign of our ancestral authority and continuity, the one and only shepherd of our land has a rival? "God forbid,if any of such competing shepherds exists in our community"?.He cautioned that not every noise deserves their attention , and not every drumbeat is for dancing .
While encouraging the population to speak with one voice on issues of peace, unity and development of the village, he citied the Letter to the Philippians, in the second reading of ,Saint Paul which encourages people to focus on what is true, just, pure and worthy of praise.
He prayed for a return to normalcy to allow for the resumption of their much cherished "TaLelah" dance.
To triumph is their quest for peace, he prescribed wisdom and calm heartednes "when we plan development or poised to resolve disagreements. We should choose what builds peace and unity rather than self aggrandisement. " sons or daughters of Balikumbat should not be indifferent to collective efforts on issues of development as "a child does not guard his father’s compound from the roadside. What belongs to you, keeps you awake. Balikumbat belongs to us all, so we should be awake".
The President General of BADDO Munjah Vitalis Fagbs and the National youth Coordinator Dr.Petela Gildas Nyugha, intimated in a chat with the madia that the annual event was meant to wish their fon a happy new year, and to also thank him for his good works. The accession they said was an opportunity for them to also pledge their unwavering support of the development vision the Fon has for their village-Balikumbat.
Via the event, they prayed for peace ,unity and development.
They affirmed that their fon is a dynamic,assiduous, and accomodative traditional authority. This they said explains why they saw the need to venerate him with quality Royal chairs that would embellish their newly constructed palace edifice .
The fon who was visibly marvelled by mobilisation and material assistance to the Palace appreciated the initiators of the programme while encouraging them to embrace the culture of peace and forgiveness for the good of their village.
