Baligham Fon makes a difference in Traditional Administration

        A tree is known by the fruits that it bears.The out bust of  Anglophone political brouhaha has put most northwest traditional authorities to test.    Many have abandoned their villages since the outbreak of the revolution and  seem not be  making effort for a return to normalcy  to enable them go back home. Instead of pouring libations to prevent the invasion of their land by the separatists who have  inversely turn against the people like some of theirs,  they are seen to  have taken  permanent residence  in towns at the expense of the people and development of their villages. 

 The rethiric is how  can fons abandoned their Fondoms, running away from the separatists when they known to be physically and spiritually invincible? .  Going by northwest culture and tradition, traditional rulers are known to be supper human being who live above ordinary humans, given the myth and mystery that goes with traditional enthronement.   Their magic wand used against malpractices and unwanted individuals in their villages is   pouring of libation with raffia wine.     This tradition is very strong in most parts of the northwest region, as once it is performed against an individual or a group of  people, the result is palpable and rapid. What has become of some of our fons today, have they abandoned this practice?.

Baligham market 
 The diseased fon of Nkambe  in Donga Mantung Division  and  many others of the region  applied it and it worked so well. Why are some not doing same?. The Fon of Baligham village - Santa  sub Division in Mezam division  HRM.Fon  Samaki Elvis Gayam II  who doubles as the mayor of Santa council  ranks amongst those  fons who have defended their traditional prowess by staying back home to administer their people to ensure serenity and development of their Fondoms .  For over five years today,  Baligham village , the bread basket of Santa Division   Mezam Division has  remained peaceful owing to the administrative ingenuity of the Fon.  This is seen in his watchwords.  




 “I reign and the people rule”. These are rare qualities in some traditional administration. “ I listen to my people, hold meetings  with  my twenty four quarter heads ,  carry out consultative talks,  sensitize them on issues of the village and we all act as one body when a decision is arrived at. I don’t dictate on them.  That is why we were able to give the ruling CPDM Party  99.9% at the October 12- 2025 presidential election.    Highlighting measures taken to pre-empt the escalation of arm conflict in his village  His Royal Majesty, stated that all the security of his villages is the challenge of all  and sundry, and everyone  committed to it via the various structures like the “ Nwanas,Ngumba,Manjong,Kebe- Neba,Zinka Neba,Nangwa- Neba , Samhit etc.  No decision is taken without consultation.  I always seek the opinion of the various structures and even hold strategic meetings at midnight to ensure that decisions taken are feasible and workable”.    To ensure continuity of peace and development of the village, he exhorted his subjects to learn to   forgive one another, as to err is human, and to forgive is divine.  He explained that he usually hold semester meetings to take the temperature of the villages , address  farmers grazers problems, security checks to guard against  admission of people of doubtful moral records.  “ we ensure that   visitors to our village are reported to the quarter heads who transmit the names to the palace for scrutiny to avoid habouring destructive forces in our village”. He spoke to the Vanguard on Thursday February 5 at his palace.         He also attributed to success story of his village to the vigilante groups and destruction of all abandoned structures that served as hideout for armed bandits.   Baligham  frontier market with the Mbounda in  the  west region has regained steam and all other activities of the village.  This according to the villages is due to the shrewd administration of  Fon  Samaki Elvis who administration is said to be  people centered.This reporter was marveled by the social cohesion, security and economic activities of the area.

NW MINHD Delegate warns contractors against poor execution of Contracts

The newly appointed Regional Delegate for Housing and Urband Development, John Paul Njosi  warns Contractors  executing  MINHDU projects in the region   against lopsided work.  Reacting complains raised by some stakeholders during a coordination ,he urged  the Divisional  Delegates and  Regional service heads to take responsibility and total  control over MINHDU projects in the region ensure  quality  work and respect of time line  execution of MINHDU projects in the region .
