NW Publicworks Delegates cautions against disrespect constract norms



Northwest contractors have exhorted to scrupoliusly respect technical specifications in the execution of public works projects to avoid sactions and waste of resources. Some contractors of the region hitherto noted to obrigation of contract norms for obvious reasons have been cautioned to desist from such practices as the state will not spare defaulters of public works road projects. .The new Regional Delegate of public works, Nfor Cyprain Ngenge who chaired the NW Public Works Coordination

meeting of Friday November 14 2025, fawned against disrespect of public works projects regulations, saying that it damages the image of the Ministry and retards realisation of projects within record time.
In his poised to enshrined more sanity and speed up realisation of road works in the region, he said in an exclusive thst stringent mechanism has been taken to ensure scrupolous follow up of public works contracts in the Region to stop return of credits to Yaounde or late delivery of contracts. His resolve to instill more order and compel contractors to respect technical specifications, timeline and other contract norms. The coordination meeting held with his divisional delegates, contractors and other service heads edified attendees on ethical values amongst other issues plaguing the execution of public works projects in the region.


The objective of the monthly coordination meeting, according to Nfor Cyprain “is to constantly evaluate the rate of execution of public works projects in the region, right wrongs of the executing companies and also to evaluate the output of the personnel of the ministry in the region.
A number of projects such as Bawuro- Akwaya road, Bafut – Wum road project, Bambili – Ndop, Mile 8 Akum – Baba II and Bali road, Acha – Njikwa road, Ntabah hill project in Ndu Sub Division, Munam bridge in Mbengwi, the construction of Jakiri and Batibo  sub divisional office of public works, and other  ongoing projects in the region came under review. Measures were taken  during the coordination meeting to ensure the realization of Public Works  projects on record time in the region. 
 He further warned that he will not condone disrespect of contract specifications and duration allocated. While urging contractors to decease from unethical practices, he insisted that participation in the Public Works Coordination meeting is mandatory as it allows for identification and correction of errors in execution of projects.  "It is important for them to always attend the meeting as it serves as a platform for examination and scrutiny of existing projects to assist them assist them work within stipulated time frame and respect of contract specifications". Highlights of the Ring Road, stretching from Kumbo squares, Ndu Nkambe and Misaje came under scrutiny as well.  The Delegate expressed satisfaction with the rate of execution of the project.He expressed optimism that construction of the stretch  of road ,Hospital  Roundabout- Wum stretch  ,another phase of the Ring Road will soon see the light if the day.   Divisional delegates and other service heads were cautioned against nonchalance in issues of the coordination meeting.
 A number of resolutions were taken against defaulters of public works projects in the region and some staff of the ministry who have not been very committed to assigned tasks.
