Ndu council wins FCFA 40m in MINHDU's Cleanest City Contest





Ndu council of Donga Mantung Division- Northwest Region is on record as the first Anglophone council to have won the annual clean city contest of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. ( MINHDU)
The mayor Elh Burno Kanfon, who received a cheque of 40 million yesterday in Bafoussam for taking the 7th position in the race, visit to the Northwest Governor, Northwest Regional Assembly and the Public Independent Consiliator (PIC) to present and celebrate victory on Tuesday July 8. Governor Lele L'Afrique and the PIC boss Tamfu Simon Fai, who received the mayor and a cream of his deputies and councilors in their various offices, hailed the mayor assiduity and commitment to the development of his municipality.
Emerging on 7th position in spite of security challenges, a mark of resilience, and poised to move the council to higher height. " Congratulations, Mr Mayor."

Talking to the press shortly after the reception, Mayor Abdou Borno Kanfon intimated that the victory was a result of teamwork and determination by the population of the municipality to come to lime light of history. " I worked with the neighbourhood and village committee ,the Fons,Churches, and NGO."
He recounted haven worked with the village neighbourhood village committee, ensuring that all the 13 villages of the municipality were clean.
While dedicating the trophy and the cash prize to the entire population of his municipality, he promised to invest the money in meaningful projects that would transform lives. He promised to work in energy with the population neighbourhood and village committee in choice of the projects. He, however, envisages the creation of a green space and recreational ground for relaxation amongst other projects
The president of the Northwest Region Assembly was not on sit to receive him.

Bechati village gets new Fon

Nkemtaji Elias Kedju 32 has been enthroned as the new Fon of Bechati village in Wabane Sub Division of Lebialem Division in the Southwest Region. The ceremony was well-attended, with over 5,000 people, including administrative and traditional authorities notable the fon of Bangang village , Fon of Nkong, Fon of Besali, Fon of Egumbo, fon of Bamumbu and representatives of Fon of Fumbe and Angong. Mayor caged at Kondengui for FCFA 190 milion Scam

Some municipal authorities have transformed the councils to private enterprises from where they enrich themselves at the expense of the population. The heavy arm of the law is hovering over them . A highly placed source has hinted The Vanguard. "Kondengui Central Prison awaits many of them.It has just started with the shocking news of embezzlement of public funds to the tune of 190 million involving mayor Bikoula Bekono of Mefou-et Afamba council in Centre region.Many of them will follow before the Legislative and Municipal elections ". A source who pleaded anonymity hinted.
