Sultan if Bamoun honoured in Saido Arabia

The manner of giving is better than what is given". With this phrase, the members of the family holding the key to the Ka'aba were keen to hand over one of the curtains (Kiswa) of the holiest sanctuary of Islam to His Majesty Mouhammad-Nabil Mforifum Mbombo Njoya, Sultan King of Bamoun on pilgrimage to Mecca. In a video that has gone viral, the monarch, surrounded by the faithful, receives from the Saudis a rectangular black cloth, adorned with calligraphies embroidered in gold thread, representing the Koranic verses.

According to the explanations that follow, it appears that this is a gift offered by the guardian of the building located in the center of the great mosque Masjid Al-Haram, Sheikh Abdul Wahhab Bin Zain Al-Shaibi.

In the Bamoun language, a son of the Noun, acting as interpreter for the occasion, explains to the 20th king of the Share Yen dynasty that this donation was preceded by another which, a few days ago, was made around the guardian of the Cameroonian pilgrims and supervisors.

Unfortunately, he notes that the Sultan had not taken part in it given his very busy schedule. The guardian of the structure expressed the wish to see the package handed over by his own people. Allah granted his wish because three members of his family were able to meet Sultan Mouhammad-Nabil. A priori, this mark of recognition towards the Bamoun Sultanate does not date from today. According to the donors' accounts, it goes back to the time of the late Sultan Njimoluh Njoya Seidou, 18th king of the Nchare Yen dynasty.

"A very old member of the holding family gave a testimony about his stay in Cameroon and particularly in Foumban. He had been very well received and treated by the late king," the Bamoun narrator explains to the Sultan.

Thus, on the occasion of the Hajj 2025 in Saudi Arabia where El Hadj Mouhammad-Nabil Mforifum Mbombo Njoya took part, on the invitation of Mohamed Ben Salman, those chosen by the Prophet Muhammad (Psl) to guard the Ka'aba according to Cheick Hassan of Medina, want to perpetuate this friendship and fraternity of more than fifty years between the Bamoun people and the Saudis.
