Adamawa GCE Exercise Marred by Examination Malpractices?

To guard against examination malpractices that culminated to sanctioning of some students, the interim GCE board registrar resolved that no candidate should be allowed into the examination hall after 8 am, immediately the writing exercise kick starts. These measures were reportedly taken to pre-empt a repeat of the exanimation malpractices that affected some centers last year thus denigrating the credibility of the exercise.  With advent of modern technology, students or some corrupt examiners and teachers can within minutes leaked out examination questions to a student.  Unfortunately, these instructions have not been respected motatis-motandy in Ngaoundere as students were allowed to enter the examination hall ten minutes after at the start of  June 3rd GCE session examination.  According to the new regulation put in place by the board, “no student should be allowed into the hall after 8 :00 am for the morning session and 1;00pm for the afternoon session, unlike the previous years where candidates came late for about 15 minutes and were still allowed to sit for the examination.  This might not have been a written down by the authorities, but the GCE board registrar in an official outing on CRTV Sunday  morning Radio programme Cameroon calling, warned in very strong terms that students should not be allowed to enter the examination hall  and 8 am and 1 pm  respectively.   Contrary to the Board decision, some officials from the board and the Liaison officers in the pre-meeting with the superintendents and other stakeholders overturned the decision of the hierarchy by adding up to 10 minutes for lateness of candidates in the Adamawa region. A security source who eavesdropped the roar between the examiners on the issue, hinted the vanguard.  Some of the GCE board claimed not to have followed the Cameroon calling of June 1st in which GCE board officials and examiners were warned against lateness of students into the examination hall.  Some of the superintendents are said to have opposed to the decision of the board restricting into the examination hall by students after 8 am and 1 pm respectively.     Some candidates, especially external students are said to have taken  advantage of the official laissez-allez in some  centers to  indulge  in examination malpractices. The implication  the unethical practice may be huge on  other regions writing the  examination.
