2025 Presidential: Gov’t intensifies crackdown on Separatist Fighters
Following continues resistance by the Armed separatists noted for killing of civilians, kidnapping for ransom, appalled Human Rights abuses and stagnation of the economy of the restive Anglophone regions for nine years running, the stare has resolved to use a ruthless method to end the insurgence before the organization of the Presidential in October 2025. . New security gadgets and a special military squad will soon to be deployed to Northwest and Southwest regions to annihilate the separatists. The persistent insurrection and resistance by the separatist fighters for close to nine years has inversely been misconstrued for weakness of the state security, which is not true. I highly placed security officer who debunked the claims by some pundits, explained that, what is going on the two Anglophone regions is not a war, but an internal political uprising that does not warrant use of heavy or conventional war weapons. He expressed optimism that the ghost towns and general holdup on schools and economic activities of Northwest and Southwest regions will soon be history “if all goes as planned by the state”. He hinted the Vanguard in an exclusive.
According to our superior security source who spoke on condition of anonymity, there will be heavy crack on villages and towns still habouring the separatist fighters. He hinted that some traditional authorities shall be litigated for hosting the separatists’ known be to striving for fragmentation of the state of Cameroon. “Unfortunately, Cameroon remains one and indivisible” He warned. He revealed that measures have been taken to revisit the list university student who were involved University strikes years back before the escalation of the revolution in 2017, sparked by the Teachers and lawyers insurgence for alleged abuse of their professional rights. He intimated that , Vivian Babila, Vujumgsi Ethna Sama and Esabel Nfor all former students of the Buea Catholic University who participated in April 22 2019 strike must be brought to book . Some of them were reportedly arrested for questioning but those leaders supposedly abscond form Buea till date. “Their attitudes contravenes Cameroon’s law. Our source remarked. The Vanguard gathered that the Buea Catholic University students strike was allegedly orchestrated by the abuse of their right to some basic services by the hierarchy of the said institution. The students rebellious acts radiated to other social sectors that indirectly affected the socio-political strata of the entire nation. The act according to the state of Cameroon, contributed in the political upheaval as it inculcated the culture of rebellion against the state and established institutions. It is on this premise that they must be brought book to deter others from vandalism. He said. According to our source, Trade Union leaders and all those who have been propagating the Southern Cameroons Philosophy over time will be arrested for questioning. Those who cannot defend themselves shall be treated as rebels. He explained. Their actions according to Cameroon government, nurtured the crisis which finally erupted in 2017. In effect, they must be brought book for being catalyst of the Anglophones crisis. He explained. He told the Vanguard that the government has resolved to use conventional war tactics and war weapons in the months ahead, if the separatist’ fighters are not annihilated before the end of September to allow for a serene organization of the presidential election in the Northwest and southwest regions. He said. “The separatists will experience real confrontation in no distant time. This might lead many civilian casualties, but it is worthwhile given that the population has remain indifference to the appeal for collaboration with the Administration to end the stalemate. They are in effect, Amba collaborators and would be treated as such”. He said. “The president has given the Amba Fighters enough time to drop their guns and go to the DDR centers for their safety and eventual reintegration into the society. The glorious days are over”. He said. Our anonymous source, further hinted that a number of people have been shortlisted for arrest and trail. involving those who allegedly master minded the February 11 2024 bump expulsion in Nkambe that killed some students of GBHS Nkambe, the assassins of two police officers at hospital Roundabout Bamenda in March 2025 . He said those who organized the Malende – Muyuka outburst against the military for allege extortion of money from the civilians are also included. He intimated that activists under detention have been assisting the state security in the identification of other culprits. This explains why he was confident that the political standoff will soon end, as perpetrators of the political roar are going to be extinct soonest. The list he said includes some alleged activists who mysteriously escaped detention in Buea in June 20 -2024 and have never been seen. This he says includes , Bihme James , Bandzeka George , Lukong Augustine, Fuanyi Anu Lionel, Ngufor Stephen, Atebo Oliver and Awanga James. Fuanyi Anu Lionel’s escape allegedly said to have been masterminded by his mother, Fanyi Janet Njiwung who supposedly had an unethical relationship with one of the officers who was on duty on that fateful day. The security source hinted that the Interpol is on high alert of their disappearance. It is worth noting that the Anglophone crisis dates back to 1961, when the West Cameroon and Southern Cameroon political leaders concocted a cosmetic unification at the Foumband Conference, after an obnoxious independence granted them ( Anglophones) by United Nations. The Anglophones were reportedly compelled to either join La Republique du Cameroon or the Federal Republic of Nigeria, if they wanted to be independent. The British imperialists who schemed the unethical union, reportedly refused to allow the Southern Cameroon to continue to function as a British trustee territory until they were ripe for their sovereignty. Political pundits described it as the worse crime in Human in history and it remains a seeds of discord that will destabilise Cameroon as whole for decades, if they do not go back to the drawing board. Since the escalation of the crisis in 2017, thousands of Anglophones have died and many escaped to foreign countries and regions of Cameroon.
