Nkor council makes tremendous progress amidst security challenges

Nchanji Germanous- Mayor Nkor Council

The ongoing Anglophone political brouhaha has given room for administrative lackadaisity and financial misconduct which will apparently lead to incarceration of some of the municipal authorities as earlier on warned by Minister Delegate in Charge of Supreme State Control, Mbah Rose, who visit to Northwest Region recently.   Some of the municipal authorities are noted for managing the councils like private enterprises from where they enrich themselves.  Those who inherited juicy bank accounts,   indulged into unproductive and obnoxious activities, swelling bills for settlement for obvious reasons.   In spite the political stalemate that has brought the  social and economic activities to a standstill, Nkor council under the administration of Mayor Nchanji Germanous  still emerges as  one of those councils of the region that has made  tremendous progress.     The council emerged second in MINPAT rating as one of the most productive councils of Bui division noted for realization of  Public Investment projects..        Accosted on a one on one chat to ascertain the determinants of the success story,    Mayor Nchanji attributed the success story to his poised to give the council a new face as a patrimony.” How will my people live to remember me , if I don’t leave a legacy through   realization of live transforming projects and working in the interest of the people?.     “ My duty as a mayor is to conceive and executive project that would impact the lives of the population who saw me  worthy of being their mayor to assist them in their development drive.  I am called up to serve, and   not to be served. I have the conviction that only a life lived for others is a life worth living.  That is why I have the duty to work relentlessly for the socio-economic transformation of my municipality, in spite the security challenges.  I consider stumbling blocks as stepping stones”. He told The Vanguard.  He also hailed his collaborators for the success story as one hand cannot not tie a bundle.   He however lamented that he would have done quite much for his council if the environment was politically convivial. He warned that those standing on the way of development of the council are inversely doing harm to themselves because they will need what he is striving to put in place in the municipality.   He lamented that the council could have done quite much were it not for the intermittent attacks of contractors by separatists’. This he said accounts for the delay in the pace of work as contractors are sometime compelled to suspend their activities and only resume when the atmosphere is conducive.  This phenomenon he regretted is disturbing issue and need to be addressed.  On this note, he opined that northwest elite should converge and strategized on how to edify the fighters on the dangers and defect of the course they have taken to attain the goal of independence which to him, is a white elephant project.      He supported the call for a cease fire by Capo Daniel, one of the separatists leaders arguing that there is need for them  to continue  fighting for a break off of the Anglophones  from la Republique, giving that the struggle is not yielding fruits.  He lampooned that the fruitless war and holdup on education of the children will affect the entire Anglophone community negatively and  the victims will never forgive those them who gagged them from going to school, the lone treasure  that a parent can give a child.  “Those children who have not gone to school have no future”.  The academic lacuna created , he went on, will affect the entire generation as even the separatists themselves will end up regretting the effect of their action on their families and friends and the entire Anglophones regions . There will be no human resource base in most localities of the Anglophone regions in the near future.  He said. The effect of the school holdup will be very devastating and shall result to envy amongst families. Children who are obstructed from going to school today shall obviously be envious of those who are educated and occupying strategic positions in government offices.  It should be noted.   The projects realized   in 2023 were  supply of farm inputs to five CIGs; Rehabilitation of a block of five classrooms at G.S Nkoll; Construction of a catchment and storage tank and extension of water to system in Djottin; Supply of Medical equipment to Nkor District Hospital;Supply of Medical Equipment to Mbinon Integrated Health Center; Construction of 20 lockup market sheds in Mbinon  market ;Construction of 30 lockup sheds in Dottin market; of the stretch of road  from Nkor- Djottin-Ngeptang ; Supply of Equipment to council library;   Huge material assistance to vulnerable people; Rehabilitation of Shiew to Ngai –Din; Construction of a Municipal inn; Construction of a Grand Stand in Nkor;Construction of a bridge linking Dom and Nsusiy; Construction of a bridge at Ebantocheng in Nkor; Construction of a Catchment storage tank and extension of  Nkor water supply by gravity; Construction of Ntoh –Lassin bridge;  Extension of Electricity from Ngeptang to Etanghecheng and Stepdown to mee village; Rehabiliatation of Kingim water supply scheme; Rehabilitation of mother and child care center at CMA Nkor; maintenance f the stretch of road from Nkor – Djotttin  and Ngeptang.
