NW ARMY RESCUE CHIEF RECIEVES MEDIA AWARD FOR DELIGENCE
Senior Warrant Officer Taku Paul Buifor, Chief of the Army Rescue for Bamenda, has been honoured by the media for his selfless service to the people of the North West Region.
Despite ongoing security challenges linked to the Anglophone crisis, Paul has braved all odds for years, responding calls for interventions in natural disasters 24 on 7.
In cases of fire, floods, and other disasters, his team is always among the first on the scene.
His commitment became so clear that even separatist fighters, who were initially indifferent to his work, eventually acknowledged it — a testament to the value of his service to Bamenda’s population.
Taku Paul expressed joy upon receiving a media merit award from World Echoes Newspaper. He said it has not been easy working in Bamenda given the numerous security challenges, but expressed satisfaction with the recognition, which he described as a testament to his assiduity and commitment. He remains poised to serve the population in spite of all odds.
“Little did I know the population, the media, civil society, and all living forces of the town were watching me as I work,” he said. “I thank God and the media for the recognition, which I dedicate to all my collaborators who have been punctual and proactive. Their commitment inspired me, and my presence and diligence also served as a moral booster to them. That is why we have been able to deliver.”
He also expressed satisfaction that the population has been very collaborative and has adhered to his guidance on how to avoid fire accidents. He said this accounts for the reduction in fire accidents in town since 2023.
